ELIGIBILITY: Candidates must be Indian citizens and natives of Tamil Nadu. A valid Nativity Certificate issued by the competent Revenue Authority of Tamil Nadu must be submitted along with the application—Permanent Residence Certificates will not be accepted. Candidates who studied from 6th to 12th standard in Tamil Nadu must provide both Nativity and Community Certificates to claim communal reservation failure to submit the Community Certificate will place them in the Open Category. Natives of Tamil Nadu who studied partly or fully in other states must submit their own and a parent’s Nativity and Community Certificates from Tamil Nadu. Candidates from other states who studied in Tamil Nadu (6th–12th) must submit Bonafide Certificates and will be considered under the Open Category; Community Certificates from other states will not be accepted. Applicants must have passed all subjects in the Higher Secondary Course from the Tamil Nadu State Board or an equivalent recognized board with required marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Botany & Zoology. Those with grade-based marks must submit a certified statement of actual marks. Candidates from boards other than the Tamil Nadu State Board or CBSE must obtain an Eligibility Certificate from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, before joining. Students from vocational streams are not eligible. As per Tamil Nadu Act No. 3 of 2007 and G.O.(Ms) No.77, normalization of marks will be applied to ensure fairness across different boards. The minimum age for eligibility is 17 years as of 31st December 2024, with a grace of 15 days beyond the cut-off date also considered.
METHOD OF SELECTION & ADMISSION :- The selection will be made based on merit and applying the rule of reservation by the Government of Tamil Nadu as follows.

CATEGORIES OF SEATS
As per the State Government policy and relevant court orders, 65% of the total seats in Non-Minority Institutions and 50% of the total seats in Minority Institutions for each Paramedical course in Self-Financing Institutions, which are surrendered to the Government Quota, will be filled based on merit, following the prevailing rule of reservation.
PROCEDURE FOR FILLING AND SUBMISSION OF ONLINE APPLICATION
The application fee for the online application process is Rs. 500/- and must be paid through the designated bank portal. Candidates must carefully fill in all mandatory fields and upload the required certificates while completing the online application form. No requests for changes or corrections will be entertained under any circumstances after submission. Candidates are advised to submit only one application form, as multiple submissions will result in only one being considered. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that all information provided in the application is accurate and complete at the time of submission.
Candidates are instructed to upload the following certificates while filling up the online application in the required places.

Note: Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category must upload their Community Certificate issued by a competent authority not below the rank of Revenue Divisional Officer. If a candidate claims ST status without uploading the valid certificate, they will be treated as an Open Category candidate. Submission or upload of any false Community, Nativity, or related certificates, if discovered at any stage during the course of study, will lead to cancellation of the candidate’s admission, expulsion from the course, and initiation of criminal proceedings against the candidate and their parents as per the law. Due to an increase in cases of fraudulent community certificates, the authenticity of such documents must be verified and confirmed by the concerned authority before the candidate completes the first year. It is the responsibility of the candidate and their parents to ensure timely verification. Failure to provide proof of authenticity will result in the candidate being barred from continuing into the second year. All required certificates must be uploaded in the prescribed format during the online application process. Community Certificates issued by authorities outside Tamil Nadu will not be accepted, and such candidates will be considered under the Open Category.
ONLINE COUNSELLING PROCEDURE (SINGLE WINDOW SYSTEM)
REPORTING
Allotted candidates must download their provisional allotment order and report in person to the allotted Medical College/Institution before the specified date and time, carrying both original certificates and their copies. Only those who have joined the course during the first phase of counselling are eligible to participate in subsequent counselling phases for re-allotment. The schedule for such counselling will be published on the official websites and communicated to the respective Deans or Principals of the colleges; no individual notifications will be sent. Movement of candidates between categories (e.g., from self-financing to government colleges) or between government colleges will be based on merit, following the rule of reservation. The dates for such online counselling will also be published on the websites and shared with college authorities. Vacancies arising after the first round of counselling, as well as additional seats due to approval of new colleges, will be filled through further online counselling if required. Re-allotment will not be permitted within self-financing colleges. Individual requests or mutual transfers for change of course or college will not be considered.
MERIT LIST:- The merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by eligible candidates in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination, scaled down to a base of 200 marks. Marks awarded by different examination boards will be considered after applying the normalization method to ensure fairness and comparability.

DISCONTINUATION FEE:-The students who are allotted and joined in any of the seats in Govt. Medical Colleges and discontinue the Paramedical Degree courses after the cut-off date should pay the Discontinuation Fee of Rs.1,00,000/- (Rs.One Lakh only) by means of Demand Draft in favor of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai – 10” payable at Chennai. |
